Creative minds gathered Thursday night at the Show Me Center to recognize winners of the area's first ADDY awards.

The Advertising Federation of Southeast Missouri presented the awards to local competitors in six divisions.

More than 80 entries were judged by the Advertising Federation of Memphis. Thirty-one entrants from Illinois, Missouri and Kentucky were honored with awards.

Five of the winners received district level awards from the Ninth Advertising District, comprised of Missouri, Iowa, Nebraska and Kansas. Those winners advanced to the national level.

Seventeen Silver Awards, 14 ADDYs, five district awards and the Best in Show Award were presented.

The Best in Show award went to WTAO/105 FM radio for its bumper sticker promotion.

Other winners from the region: RV Productions Inc. for stationery packages, an annual report and a Womancare brochure for St. Francis Medical Center. In all, the company won the greatest number of awards.

"The idea was to bring a new style and fresh design to the area," said Jeff Vandeven, co-owner of RV Productions.

Southeast Missouri Hospital won two Silver Awards for its InforMed and Synapse newsletters. The hospital also received two Silver Awards for direct mailings and a Kid's Bee Safe magnet.
