JACKSON, Mo. -- Family and Community Education All Clubs Day was held March 26 at Cape Girardeau County Extension Center in Jackson. Oak Ridge Club was hostess.
Lee Anderson presided and Betty Landgraf gave the devotional.
The program on India was given by Jitendra Guha of New Delhi, India, a student at Southeast Missouri State University.
It was reported Taylor Sanders of Immaculate Conception School in Jackson won the essay contest on "What My Family Means to Me." He received a savings bond, certificate and ribbon. There were 212 entries from fourth grade students in Cape Girardeau and Jackson schools.
An auction was held with proceeds to be used for county FCE projects. A quilt donated by Marjorie Swan was auctioned and won by Esther Nobus.
Following lunch, the afternoon program was presented by Emily Bertrand of Notre Dame High School playing the harp.
Pins were presented by Verna Petzoldt and Gayla Volz to: Opal Collins, 15 years; Melva Floyd, 25 years; Barbara Schaffner, 30 years; Barbara Loberg, Billie Criddle, Dorothy Hahs and Volz, 35 years; Verla Mangels, Shirley Beggs, Mary Talley and Dorothy Penzel, 40 years; and Ruby Hitt, 50 years.
Progressive Club celebrated its 40th anniversary, and Lamplighters Club celebrated its 35th anniversary.
Mary Gosche announced Kage Club was named Cape Girardeau County Club of the Year for 2000.
It was also announced Agnes Wachter has been included as a member of the Extension Leader Honor Roll of the University of Missouri. She received a certificate in recognition of her work in helping develop and carry out local outreach and extension programs.
Tours for the year were announced, with the first being to The Muny in St. Louis July 24.
Members will test recipes for Today's Farmer magazine April 9, followed by leaders training.
The district meeting will be April 24 at Dexter, Mo.
