ALTON, Ill. -- A 17-year-old father has been accused of beating his infant daughters who suffered skull fractures and broken bones, authorities said.
Madison County prosecutors charged Torrence D. Lloyd on Monday with two counts of aggravated domestic battery. Bond was set at $200,000.
Assistant State's Attorney Susan Jensen said the father was "frustrated and tired" of taking care of the girls, who were born June 12.
"The babies wouldn't stop crying. He was angry at being home while the mother was out," Jensen said.
Alton Police Sgt. Scott Golike said detectives were called to the hospital Saturday. The Illinois Department of Children and Family Services reported the case to police. One of the babies, Hayley, was in critical condition and her sister, Hannah, was in good condition Tuesday, according to Mark Zeman, a spokesman for Cardinal Glennon Children's Hospital in St. Louis.
