BLOOMFIELD, Mo. -- A Southeast Missouri man was killed when his all-terrain vehicle ran off a river embankment and overturned, authorities said.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol identified the man as Benjamin Kruse, 28, of Dexter, Mo. He is the son of Charlie Kruse, president of the Missouri Farm Bureau, according to Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter.

The accident happened Saturday night as Kruse was traveling through a wooded area about five miles north of Bloomfield. He was trapped in the water when the ATV overturned into the Castor River Waterway, the patrol said.
