Mom isn't working now and shops at Salvation Army for anything her children might need. The 6-year-old likes games and coloring books and dolls. The 2-year-old likes whatever her sister has, especially books and ABC toys. The family spends most of their time at home, sometimes visiting relatives. Any help from Toybox would be a blessing. Like the 1,200 children ages 1 tBring new toys to any of the Toy- box locations, including the Southeast Missourian, or make a monetary donation to Toybox, P.O. Box 4, Cape Girardeau, Mo., 63702. Other popular requests include: Board games, race cars, trucks, dolls, learning toys, puzzles, books, balls, drawing materials, and items with a Hannah Montana, Spider-Man, Dora the Explorer, Indiana Jones or "High School Musical" theme.

Grandparents ask for help with disabled grandson

This elderly couple takes care of their 27-year-old grandson who has autism. They are living on Social Security and help provide for his daily care. Mr. L needs pullover tops size 2X, jeans size 44-30, youth socks, tennis shoes size 9, briefs size 42, and a full sheet set. They would appreciate this extra help at Christmas -- a present that means the most to them. This would make their Christmas truly bright! You can help Mr. L and other elderly people in the area by buying items, including personal grooming items, cleaning supplies and grocery gift cards. Items can be delivered to the Southeast Missourian, or make a monetary donation to Christmas for the Elderly, P.O. Box 4, Cape Girardeau, Mo., 63702. All elderly served are living independently on limited incomes with few, if any, family members.
