Missourians for Fair Elections, an organization formed recently to promote an initiative petition to put limits on contributions to political candidates on a statewide ballot next year, will be holding one in a series of public hearings in Cape Girardeau Tuesday night.
One of nine hearings planned this week, the session in Cape is scheduled for 7 p.m. in the Program Lounge of the Southeast Missouri State University Center.
Former Secretary of State Roy Blunt and former State Treasurer James Spainhower are heading the committee. A final proposal will be drafted, based on input gathered from the public hearings.
Plans are to distribute petitions for a final plan sometime this fall.
Public hearings are also planned in Springfield, St. Louis, Columbia, Raytown, Joplin, Hannibal, Kirksville and St. Joseph.
