Area students get scholarships to MSU

Three local students have received scholarships to Murray State University in Murray, Ky.

Jessica Wilkinson, a 2003 graduate of Jackson High School, received the honor scholarship. She is the daughter of Tim Wilkinson of Marble Hill and Steve and Sandy Mize of Jackson.

Casie Janet, a 2003 graduate of Notre Dame Regional High School, received the regent's scholarship and a recognition award. She is the daughter of Chris and Jill Janet of Cape Girardeau.

Jill Heuschober, a 2003 graduate of Notre Dame Regional High School, received the valedictorian scholarship, a recognition award and an honor scholarship. She is the daughter of Michael and Connie Heuschober of Cape Girardeau.

Emmendorfer receives bachelor's from SMSU

Angie Emmendorfer of Cape Girardeau was among 536 students to receive a degree at Southwest Missouri State University's summer commencement ceremonies.

She graduated with a bachelor's degree.

Notre Dame grad placed in UMR honors academy

Andrew Welter, a 2003 graduate of Notre Dame Regional High School, has received the following scholarships: Bright Flight, University of Missouri-Rolla Missouri Miner and UMR chemical and biological engineering department Mailand R. Strunk scholarship.

Welter, who plans to major in chemical engineering, has been placed in the UMR honors academy. He is the son of Fred Welter and Teri Buckenmyer of Cape Girardeau.

Students get Jackson K of C scholarships

The Jackson Knights of Columbus recently presented five local high school students with $500 scholarships.

The students were: Steven Ford, a graduate of Oak Ridge High School and son of Larry and Pat Ford; Stephanie Griffith, a graduate of Notre Dame Regional High School and daughter of Rick Griffith and Debbie Welker; Cory Beussink, a graduate of Notre Dame Regional High School and son of Mark and Geri Beussink; Amanda Dumey, a graduate of Jackson High School and daughter of John and Pam Dumey; and Trina Lang, a graduate of Jackson High School and daughter of Roger and Lisa Lang.

Kaelin receives $20,000 scholarship to ASU

Jennifer Kaelin, a 2003 graduate of Notre Dame Regional High School, has received the $20,000 sun devil scholarship to Arizona State University.

She was accepted by audition to the university's dance program, and plans to major in dance.

She is the daughter of Dr. David and Angela Kaelin of Cape Girardeau.
