JACKSON -- Cape Girardeau County residents will vote for members of the University Extension Council this month.
Ballots for the election will appear in local newspapers the week of Jan. 18, along with voting instructions and candidate information.
Ballots are also available at the Extension Center in Jackson.
Ballots must be returned before Jan. 31 to the Extension Center.
Council Members nominated are:
Becky A. Heuer vs. Betty J. Kuss:
Heuer, Cape Girardeau, a self-employed owner of Kagmo Ind. Supply Co., is currently serving on the Extension Council. She is a member of the Progressive Homemakers Club and Cape County Mill Tax Board.
Kuss of Cape Girardeau is a funeral director and assistant manager of Lorberg Memorial Funeral Chapel, Inc. She is member of the National, Missouri and Southeast Missouri Funeral Directors Association.
Larry Quade vs. Dale Birk:
Quade, of Chaffee, is a farmer. He presently serves on the extension Council. He is a MFA board member, No-Till club member and a member of the National Corn Growers Association.
Birk of Jackson is a farmer. He was active in 4-H and Future Farmers of America (FFA). He is a member of the Cape County Pork Producers.
Mack A. Wilson vs. Kevin Gerlach:
Wilson of Cape Girardeau, is associate professor of agriculture at Southeast Missouri State University. He is presently serving on the extension council. He is a member of Alabama Academy of Science, Missouri Academy of Science, Honor Society for Agriculture and other organizations.
Gerlach of Cape Girardeau is in insurance sales and service. He is a member of the Cape Girardeau Chamber of Commerce Agriculture Committee and Life Underwriters Association.
Chris Weiss vs. Robert Landgraf Jr.:
Weiss of Jackson, is an attorney and is currently serves on the Extension Council. He is a member of the SEMO District Fair Board of Directors, Cape Girardeau County Farm Bureau Board and the board of directors for Southeast Missouri Medical Center, Inc.
Landgraf of Jackson, is a construction supervisor. He is a 10-year 4-H Club member and leader and is completing a second term as 4-H Council County president. He was named outstanding 4-H leader in 1992.
Ted J. Williams vs. James Lichtenegger:
Williams of Jackson is lending officer/senior vice president at Boatman's Bank and owns a small farm with registered beef cattle. He currently serves on the Extension Council. He is a member of Jackson Chamber of Commerce and SEMO Cattlemen's Board.
Lichtenegger of Jackson is vice president/cashier of Bank of Altenberg. He is a member and project leader of Pocahontas 4-H Club and was a previous a member of Cape County Junior Leaders.
Lawson B. Burgfeld vs. Jack Smoot:
Burgfeld of Jackson, a livestock enforcement officer for Missouri Department of Agriculture, serves on the Extension Council. He is a member of the 4-H/FFA Livestock Sale Committee for the SEMO Fair.
Smoot of Burfordville, historic site administrator at Bollinger Mill State History Park, is a member of River Heritage Association, Old Appleton Bridge Restoration committee and Cape Girardeau County Historical Society.
Steve Birk vs. Ed Schilling:
Birk of Jackson, a beef cattle producer, serves on the Extension Council. He is a member of the Missouri Beef Cattle Improvement Association, Missouri Cattlemen's Association, and American Polled Hereford Association.
Schilling of Jackson, is Rhodes Travel Center manager. He is a member of the Missouri Petroleum Association.
Eileen Meier vs. Diana L. Hobeck:
Meier of Jackson is program assistant for ASCS-USDA, and past member of the Extension Council. She is a member of Agriculture Leaders of Tomorrow. She is managing partner of Butch's Angus Farm.
Hobeck of Oak Ridge works in new accounts at Boatman's Bank. She is past member of Extension Council and served as secretary of the council. She serves as president of New Seekers Extension Club, and is past president of Cape County Extension Homemakers.
Elizabeth Aufdenberg vs. Donna Koenig:
Aufdenberg has been a Tilsit 4-H Club leader 14 years. She is a past Cape County Bureau board member. She is a Jackson R-2 cook at the Burfordville attendance center.
Koenig of Burfordville has been a 4-H leader 20 years, and is a former member of Homemakers Extension Club.
Cathi Schlosser vs. Jackie Wortmann:
Schlosser of Cape Girardeau is manager of customer relations at LDD, Inc. She is a member of the Chamber of Commerce and is owner of a row crop farm.
Wortmann, of Jackson, has been a 4-H leader 10 years, and has worked on judging at County Achievement.
Susan Jahn vs. Mary Klaproth:
Jahn of Jackson is self-employed in farmers. She is a member of Cape County Pork Producers and Farm Bureau State Young Farmers Committee. She has been a member of the New Trends in Agriculture Planing Committee nine years.
Klaproth of Jackson is insurance secretary at the Cape Girardeau Surgical Clinic, is a member of the Town and County FCE CLub, and volunteer for American Cancer Society.
Stanley Propst vs. David Joe Wessel:
Propst of Cape Girardeau is a farmer and Northrup King Seed dealer. He is a member of the Farm Bureau.
Wessell of Gordonville is a farmer.
