The ballot to vote for representatives to the University Extension Council is being run in the Southeast Missourian today.
Voting instructions and candidate information are on the ballots, which also are available at the Extension Center, 815 S. Hope in Jackson. Ballots should be returned by mail or brought to the Extension Center; deadline is Jan. 28. To complete a ballot, vote for eight of the 14 nominees.
Nominees are:
Shirley A. Birk of Jackson. Birk is a farmer, election judge for Byrd 5 and 6, member of Missouri Soybean Association and St. Paul Lutheran Church, charter member of Pocahontas 4-H Club and former member of Cape County Homemakers.
Opal Collins of Cape Girardeau. Collins is a retired teacher, was raised on a dairy farm in Cape Girardeau, holds a bachelor's degree from Southeast Missouri State University and a master's degree from George Peabody College of Vanderbilt University. She is a tax counselor with AARP Tax-Aide, active in Grace United Methodist Women and Cape Girardeau County Chapter AARP and is past president of Cape County FCE Council.
Bill Craig of Gordonville. Craig is a real-estate appraiser, member of Cape West Rotary Club, fire commissioner for Gordonville Fire Protection District and a Boy Scout leader.
Bill Gholson of Jackson. Gholson is a truck driver, member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, Cape County Young Farmers and works with extension specialists for cow and calf management and agronomy questions.
Randy Ludwig of Jackson. Ludwig is a farmer, past member of the Extension Council, member of SEMO Cattlemen's Association and project leader for Fruitland 4-H Club.
Kirk Mueller of Jackson. Mueller is farm credit branch manager of the Jackson Branch (Agriculture Lender) and member of SEMO Cattlemen's Association and St. Paul Lutheran Church.
Scott L. Peters of Cape Girardeau. Peters is owner of Champion Lawn and Garden, UMC Extension Master Gardener intern member and member Vision 2020 Planning Committee for Cape Girardeau.
Ema Phillips of Cape Girardeau. Phillips is a registered nurse and farm housewife, has been in Young American's 4-H Club, member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Jackson Trailriders and Tennessee Walking Pleasure House Club of Missouri, Teen Challenge volunteer and assists with 4-H at SEMO District Fair.
Steve N. Preusser of Jackson. Preusser is owner of Fruitland Livestock Sales Inc. and provides the facility for the 4-H/FFA Steer Sale weigh-in.
Mark Reitzel of Whitewater. Reitzel is a farmer, 4-H alumni and member of Delta Baptist Church.
Marilyn Retherford of Oak Ridge. Retherford is a retired educator and member of Oak Ridge Extension Club.
Annette Ruesler of Jackson. Ruesler is an agri-business student at Southeast Missouri State University, employed at Sander True Value in Jackson is a member of SEMO Ag Club and active in 4-H and FFA.
David L. Wichern of Jackson. Wichern is employed in agriculture sales at Co-Op Service Center, participated in 4-H and FFA, holds a bachelor's degree in agri-business and is a member of Cape County Farm Bureau board of directors.
Mack Wilson of Cape Girardeau. Wilson is a professor at Southeast Missouri State University and recruits minority children for science, math, engineering majors for college.
