It's going to be hot in Southeast Missouri and Southern Illinois all week long.
The National Weather Service in Paducah, Ky., issued an excessive heat warning for the area set to expire at 7 p.m. Saturday.
Forecasters expect heat index values to reach between 100 and 110 degrees each day this week, with the highest heat index values seen in Southern Illinois.
High temperatures in Cape Girardeau are expected to be 96 to 98 degrees every day through Saturday. The Cape Girardeau city government has opened up the Osage Centre as a cooling center, open from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and noon to 9 p.m. Sunday.
