University Center Program Lounge: Sheridan Wigginton, assistant professor of Spanish and education at the University of Missouri-St. Louis will present a lecture on how the word "black" is interpreted different ways in the African-American and Dominican community called "Black by Any Other Name: A Comparison of How African-Americans and Dominicans Negotiate Being Black" at 1:30 p.m.

University Center Ballroom: Skip Yowell, co-founder of JanSport, will speak at noon in the University Center Ballroom on the campus of Southeast Missouri State University. The Southeast Missouri Regional Museum on the campus of Southeast Missouri State University will host the 29th Annual High School Art Symposium, sponsored by the Southeast Missouri State University Department of Art. The exhibit showcases 75 pieces from high school juniors and seniors in public and private schools in Missouri and Illinois.

Feb. 8

The annual V-Day production of "The Vagina Monologues" will be presented at 7:30 p.m. at Academic Hall Auditorium on the campus of Southeast Missouri State University. This will be the fifth year of the performance, this year's theme is "Reclaiming Peace."
