MAY 3, 10, 17, 24, 31 Cape Girardeau Farmers Market: The Cape Girardeau Farmers Market will be open every Thursday starting at 2:30 p.m. in the parking lot at 2001 Independence St. Seasonal produce and fruits, arts and crafts, baked goods, eggs, honey, cut flowers and plants available.

MAY 4-6 Fort D Days: Fort D, a Civil War fort in Cape Girardeau, will play host to Fort D Days, with a living history encampment and history demonstrations, food, live music and cannon fire. Admission is free.

MAY 9, 16, 23, 30 Cape Alternative Farmers Market: The Cape Alternative Farmers Market will be open every Wednesday from 8 a.m. to noon in the parking lot north of the Red House Interpretive Center, featuring Missouri-grown strawberries; farm-raised and pastured chickens, eggs and pork; gourmet lettuce and fresh-cut herbs; breads, cakes and pies; gourmet canned items; goat milk soap; plants; fruits and vegetables; and all-natural pork and beef.
