Frank Perry thinks Christians today have made evangelism out to be a scary thing.
Perry, an international ambassador with the Full Gospel Business Men's Fellowship, is in Cape Girardeau to share his enthusiasm and techniques on evangelism with local ministers, lay people and others.
Perry of Chatham, England, leaves Wednesday for a convention in Miami.
"Why would God give us something to do and make it so ridiculously difficult?" Perry asked. "He wouldn't. It's easy and we think it's hard and difficult and problematic."
Evangelism is about sharing testimonies and telling people what God has done in their lives, he said. Each meeting of the Full Gospel Business Men's Fellowship is about sharing testimonies, not preaching.
"A plumber can share with another plumber, an airline pilot with another airline pilot and a lawyer with another lawyer," he said.
Using one-on-one relationships has been effective for the fellowship. Perry sees his work as that of a teacher. He teaches people about sharing God's love and aims to motivate them.
"We are an arm of the church," he said. "We motivate men from the church and send them back fired up."
Perry was a Rotary Club president when he found out about the Business Men's Fellowship.
He and a friend attended a meeting and "there were all these guys praying and clapping and being real with each other," he said.
Perry began traveling internationally to share the gospel. He has visited Africa, Australia, several European countries, the United States and Caribbean.
The Full Gospel Business Men's Fellowship has chapters in 168 countries around the world.
