Southeast Missouri State University enrollment stood at 8,882 students on the first day of spring semester classes Tuesday, up 5.5 percent over a year ago.
The university has 7,966 undergraduate students, up 6.7 percent, school officials said.
Freshmen enrollment provided much of the numbers boost, officials reported.
A total of 1,804 freshmen are enrolled, up 14.6 percent from the 2005 spring semester.
Southeast continues to see growth in Web courses, said Dr. Fred Janzow, dean of the School of Graduate and University Studies.
Southeast has 3,485 students enrolled in 171 Web courses.
Southeast has 916 graduate students, down 3.5 percent from a year ago.
