ENGLISH LANGUAGE AUTHORITY WILL ADDRESS EXECUTIVES CLUB

Elliot Engel, an authority on literature and the English language, will be guest speaker at the Nov. 14 meeting of the Cape Girardeau Executives Club.

The meeting begins at 7 p.m. at the Drury Lodge.

Engel will discuss "Our Slippery Mother Tongue: A Humorous History of English."

Through historical incidents, Engel shows how and why the English language developed in such an amazing way.

Engel earned his bachelor's degree at Indiana University and his master's and doctorate degrees as a Woodrow Wilson Fellow at UCLA.

His books have been published by both British and American presses and his articles have appeared in numerous magazines, including Newsweek."
