COLUMBIA -- Paul F. Roth, formerly of Cape Girardeau, president of Texas Division of the Southwestern Bell Telephone Co., Dallas, is one of five engineers who was honored Friday by the University of Missouri-Columbia College of Engineering and the Engineering Foundation for their service in the engineering profession.

Roth received his honor during the 40th annual Distinguished Service in Engineering Honor Awards banquet held at the Holiday Inn Executive Center.

Roth joined Southwestern Bell at St. Louis after earning a bachelor's degree in civil engineering from the University of Missouri-Columbia in 1956.

Roth is chairman of the State Advisory Council of Communities in Schools, and a director of the Texas Research League, the Southwestern Medical Foundation and the Texas Chamber of Commerce. He is also a trustee of Southwestern University and member of the steering committee of the Texas Business and Education Coalition.
