The Cape Girardeau Elk's Lodge 639 has named three students to its Student of the Month program.
They are selected by a panel at their school and are recognized for their achievements, citizenship, scholarship and leadership.
Alicia Chapman, 17, of Chaffee was named as the Student of the Month by Notre Dame School.
She is a senior at the school and is a member of the SADD chapter, Spanish club, Team Spirit and volunteers at St. Francis Medical Center. She had an 8.5 grade-point average.
She is the daughter of Joy Chapman of Chaffee.
William Thorpe, 17, of Cape Girardeau was named Student of the Month at Cape Central High School.
Thorpe, a senior, is a member of the marching band, tennis team, Beta club, National Honor Society, Latin and Spanish clubs, pep band and concert band.
He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. William Thorpe of Cape Girardeau.
Melissa Burlbaugh, 17, of Scott City was named the Student of the Month at Scott City High School.
She is a senior at the high school and is a member of the science club, Future Business Leaders of America and the Cape Girardeau Gator Swim Team.
She has volunteered with the swim team and participated in the Kiwanis Learn-to-Swim program. She has competed in swimming for nine years.
She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Conrad Burlbaugh of Scott City.
