Local electricians who wish to be grandfather in under the city's existing licensing procedure must complete an application by 5 p.m. Dec. 29.
Currently, all electricians who apply for a license in Cape Girardeau must pass the Block and Associates exam.
But electricians who obtained a license before March 1, 1996, and who have not previously taken the exam may be grandfathered in under the existing guidelines if they turn in an application.
The Board of Examiners will review applications and determine which electricians will be grandfathered in.
Applications can be completed at the Inspection Services Division, City Hall, 401 Independence For more information, call 334-4466.
