The accident occurred when the vehicle Paul Lynch was driving turned left onto Mount Auburn Road from a private drive in the mall in front of a northbound pickup truck driven by David Turner of 675 Strawberry Lane in Jackson.

The pickup truck struck the front driver's corner of the Lynches' vehicle, according to Cpl. Kevin Orr of the Cape Girardeau Police Department.

Paul Lynch was wearing a seatbelt and an airbag was deployed when the accident occurred. Claudia Lynch was not wearing a seatbelt, Orr said.

Both Lynches were admitted to Southeast Missouri Hospital.
