SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (AP) -- Springfield police say an elderly couple has been found dead of gunshot wounds at their home.
Police Lt. Scott Leven said 84-year-old man called 911 Tuesday morning saying that his wife had shot herself, and that he was about to shoot himself. Officers secured the home and went inside about two hours later and found the man and his wife, who was 74, dead of gunshot wounds.
The man was found in the garage and his wife's body was in the bathroom. Police aren't sure who pulled the trigger, so they're treating the case as a homicide until the investigation is finished.
The names of the couple are being withheld until next of kin can be notified.
