Eighth District Democratic candidate to appear at local events

Eighth District Democratic congressional candidate Joe Allen will appear at a series of events today in Cape Girardeau. Public events include lunch and meeting with retirees at 11:30 a.m. at the Cape Girardeau Senior Center at 921 N. Clark Ave., an informal discussion with local Democrats at 2 p.m. at Broadway Books and Roasting Co. at 605 Broadway, a meeting with community leaders at 4 p.m. at the Salvation Army headquarters at 701 Good Hope St., and a political reception for Democrats at 7 p.m. at Shady Lane in Jackson. Allen, a Forsyth, Mo., lawyer, is seeking to unseat U.S. Rep. Jo Ann Emerson, R-Cape Girardeau.
