The applicants are Brynda Dickson, Martha Hamilton, Brenda Newbern, Twila Brown, David Hess, Carrie Bell Smith, Mary Jackson and Van Ayers.

School board members will meet at 4 p.m. Monday to narrow the list to five finalists. The board will interview the finalists at an opening meeting at 5 p.m. June 18 in the central administration building, school officials said. The board will make a final decision by mid-July at the latest, officials said.

The new board member will fill the vacancy created by the resignation of Sharon Mueller and serve until the school board election in April. Mueller resigned last month because she and her family were relocating to St. Louis.
