Ongoing drug investigations led to eight arrests in Scott County over the weekend.
A collaboration between Scott County Sheriff's Department drug investigations and tactical teams served three search warrants for the recovery of controlled substances at residences in Morley on Saturday night. The first two warrants, served at Emerson Lane in Morley, resulted in a suspect receiving a summons for possession of marijuana, pending filing of formal charges by Scott County prosecutor Paul Boyd.
The third search warrant, served at 103 Mandeville St. in Morley, broke up a party and led to seven other arrests.
Michelle D. Cornelius, 42, of Oran, was charged with possession of a controlled substance, resisting arrest, and assault on a law enforcement officer, after allegedly spitting in the face of two tactical team members, according to Sheriff Rick Walter.
Bond was set at $5,000. Donna M. Hood, 38, of Morley, was charged with possession of a controlled substance, outstanding Scott County warrants for passing bad checks, operating a vehicle without financial responsibility, probation violation, and a New Madrid County warrant for probation on passing bad checks. Bond for Hoods was set at $17,500.
Carol A. Cochran, 40, of Morley, was charged with two counts of possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia, and is being held on a $1,000 bond. Timothy Taylor, 35, of Sikeston, was arrested on a Sikeston municipal warrant for contempt of court. Ashley Dial, 22, of Sikeston, was arrested on a Boone County warrant for failure to comply with a court order, and Ashley Cook, 24, of Metrolpolis, Ill., was arrested on a Massac County, Ill., warrant for failure to appear.
