Amy Chanel Johnson, a graduate of Egyptian High School at Tamms, Ill., has been awarded a scholarship from the Masonic Lodges of Alexander, Pulaski and Union counties.

Johnson is the daughter of Wayne and Beverly Welch of Tamms. She is attending Shawnee College, majoring in English and minoring in Spanish and journalism.

While in high school, she was an FHA-HERO state officer, SADD president, Beta Club vice president and a member of the student council and science club. She served on the district youth council for the Tamms United Methodist Church and ranked first in her class.

The Masonic lodges award a scholarship annually to a senior in one of the schools serving their area.
