The 1993 Easter Seal Society telethon is scheduled Sunday from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. and will air locally on KBSI-Fox 23.
Jhan Thomas of K-103/KZIM and Mike Simmons and Traci Neldon of KBSI will serve as on-air hosts.
The telethon is Easter Seals' largest fund-raising effort, said Chuck Martin, regional executive director for Easter Seals. Money raised is used to fund the Early Learning Center, which serves children from birth to age 6 with all types of disabilities.
Easter Seals offers a loan-a-seat program to anyone with a child in need of a car safety seat.
Martin said Easter Seals also plans to open a computer resource center for children with disabilities within a few months. Money from the telethon will help provide children with ass istance technology.
The final total for last year's telethon was $51,000. The goal this year is $55,000.
Pledges can be made by calling the telethon Sunday at 335-8333 or toll-free at 1-800-246-9111.
State Rep. Mary Kasten (R-Cape Girardeau) is honorary chairman of this year's telethon.
Six children will be featured on the show: Ashley and Jamie Cooper of Jackson, Lauren Eggiman of Gordonville, Michael Kassel of Perryville, Madison Phillips of New Madrid, and Gracee Taylor of Cape Girardeau.
