EAST PRAIRIE TEEN-AGE DIES

EAST PRAIRIE -- A Mississippi County teen-ager was killed, and two other people were injured in a one-vehicle accident shortly after noon Sunday four miles south of East Prairie.

Scott Weakley, 17, of East Prairie was killed when the truck in which he was a passenger went off a bridge, fell 12 feet and came to rest on the top of the truck's cab.

Michael Kersey, 17, and Philip Davison, 22, both of East Prairie, sustained moderate injuries in the accident and were taken to Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol said the accident occurred at about 12:15 p.m. when Kersey, the driver, lost control of the vehicle as it was traveling westbound on County Road 526.
