ELLINGTON, Mo. -- Jerry Don Portwood II, 20, of East Prairie, Mo., died early Saturday of injuries sustained in an automobile accident.
According to a Missouri State Highway Patrol report, the accident occurred when the 1998 Chevrolet driven by Portwood traveling southbound on Highway 21, five miles south of Ellington, crossed the center line and struck a northbound 1997 Ford head-on.

Portwood was pronounced dead at the scene by the Jeff McSpadden, Reynolds County coroner.
The driver of the other vehicle, Linda Noll, 53, of Doe Run, Mo., was taken to Barnes Hospital in St. Louis with severe injuries.
