Deputy Jeremy Perrien responded to Route O on a report of a suspicious package that appeared to be intentionally placed on the side of the road, the news release said. Inside the bag the deputy reportedly found ingredients needed to make methamphetamine. When Colby L. Davis, 28, of East Prairie attempted to pick up the bag, deputies were watching and arrested Davis after a quarter-mile foot chase, according to the news release.

Davis was charged with attempting to manufacture a controlled substance, resisting arrest and a misdemeanor of receiving stolen property for a blank prescription pad from a local hospital found in his car.
