A fire early today moderately damaged a fourth floor apartment on West End Boulevard.
Fire chief Rick Ennis of the Cape Girardeau Fire Department said crews responded around 6:15 a.m. to 45 S. West End Boulevard. Ennis said that the fire occurred inside apartment No. 411, though smoke from inside the building spread to other nearby apartments that did not sustain any damage.
No one was inside the apartment at the time of the fire, which was contained by 6:45 a.m. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
