Two people from Jackson were seriously injured after their vehicle struck a tree early Monday morning.
Veronica A. Perrey, 20, was driving a 2010 Mazda eastbound on Route Y near Jackson around 2:45 a.m. when the vehicle failed to negotiate a curve, a Missouri Highway Patrol crash report said. The Mazda then ran off the left side of the roadway and struck a tree.
Perrey and a passenger in the vehicle, Ronald Gilbert, 20, were both transported to Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau for treatment of injuries. Perrey and Gilbert were wearing their seat belt at the time of the crash, the highway patrol said.
