Mark Berwer of Perryville and Robert Hoppmann of Cape Girardeau had received the District Award of Merit at an annual meeting for the Shawnee District of the Greater St. Louis Area Council of the Boy Scouts of America in January.
Another award winner was J. Kensey Russell of Cape Girardeau. He received the District Award of Merit at Boy Scout Troop 10's Court of Honor at the Glenn House in January.
The District Award of Merit is presented to people who have made outstanding contributions to youth in the Scouting program in their community.
Brewer has been Scoutmaster of Troop 155 in Perryville for more than 10 years and has been active in the Order of Arrow, at the lodge and chapter levels.
Hoppmann is an Order of the Arrow member and assistant scoutmaster of Troop 5 in Cape Girardeau. He has served as District Scouting for Food chairman for many years.
Russell has served many years as a cubmaster and scoutmaster. He has been involved in several Woodbadge advanced leader training courses, serving as scoutmaster in 1992.
