Eighty-eight boys who earned Boy Scouting's highest rank during 1994 will be honored today at the annual Eagle Scout Court of Honor.
The event will begin at 2 p.m. in Academic Hall auditorium on the campus of Southeast Missouri State University.
Missouri Farm Bureau President Charles Kruse of Dexter will be class sponsor and main speaker.
The Eagle Scouts are from 19 Southeast Missouri counties and 11 counties in Southern Illinois. Forty-one troops are represented in the class from 27 different communities.
Dr. James A. Kinder is chairman of the event and Don McNeely, former KFVS-TV meteorologist, will present the Eagle Scouts.
Before the ceremony, a noon luncheon is planned in the University Center where Eagle Scouts will have an opportunity to meet with an individual whose vocation matches the career interest of the scout.
To attain the rank of Eagle, Scouts must earn 21 merit badges, including 12 specifically required; must complete a major service project where they show an ability to plan, develop and give leadership to others; and successfully handle leadership responsibilities within their troop.
After completing all requirements, Scouts must complete a troop and district board of review before their application is submitted to the national office for final approval.
