JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. -- Beaches at three Missouri parks have been closed because of high levels of E. coli bacteria in the water. The Department of Natural Resources says it has shut down the swimming beach at Mark Twain State Park, the day-use beach at Truman State Park and Public Beach No. 1 at the Lake of the Ozarks. Those beaches will remain closed until future water samples show bacteria levels have fallen to acceptable levels...

The Department of Natural Resources says it has shut down the swimming beach at Mark Twain State Park, the day-use beach at Truman State Park and Public Beach No. 1 at the Lake of the Ozarks. High water also has forced the closure of the campground beach at Truman State Park and of Pittsburg Beach at Pomme de Terre State park.
