A slight delay wont end the process to disincorporate Dutchtown, an official said at Mondays Cape Girardeau County Commission meeting.
Ken Eftink, trustee in the dissolution of Dutchtown and stormwater and floodplain manager for Cape Girardeau County, said at the meeting that since the public hearing opened Feb. 1, he has not been contacted with claims of outstanding debt.
The public hearing is required by Missouri statute to allow officials to hear claims against the village.
Since he did not receive any claims, I recommend moving forward with dissolution, Eftink said.
A bond is now needed, which was approved by Judge Benjamin Lewis, Eftink said.
Once the bond is in place, the county commissioners can sign the disincorporation ordinance into law, Eftink said.
Presiding Commissioner Clint Tracy closed the public hearing, and recommended further action at the commission meeting following the bond, which should be Thursday or March 12.
In other action, the Missouri Department of Transportation entered into an agreement with the county commission regarding County Road 601.
The road serves as access to Heartland Materials LLC and Saxony Lutheran High School.
Commissioner Paul Koeper said the county now owns the road.
After the meeting, Koeper said by phone that MoDOT had an existing outer road that ran into County Road 601, near the sign for Saxony High School. When Heartland Materials negotiated to build a new road, MoDOT said they would do the design work and help with construction if the county would take possession of the road afterward.
We agreed, Koeper said, and that agreement was formalized at Mondays meeting.
