Dunklin County man charged with child abuse after allegedly breaking infant's leg

A Dunklin County man is in jail charged with assaulting and abusing an infant as he changed her diaper.

David Kimball Jr., 22, was arrested Tuesday and charged with first-degree assault and child abuse.

According to police, Kimball broke the child's right leg as he changed her diaper on Sept. 26 but never reported the injury to her mother. The one-month-old girl was taken to three different hospitals until the broken femur was diagnosed in mid-October. Kimball later apologized to the mother and told her it was an accident. He is jailed on a $150,000 bond and will go to court for an initial arraignment Friday before Judge John Speilman.
