Another event with family appeal is the debut event of "Ducks on the Mississippi," sponsored by the Southside and Esprit Optimist Clubs, benefiting children on the south side of Cape Girardeau.
The rubber ducks will be released at Kidd's boat dock on the north end of Riverfront Park at 1:30 and 2 p.m. Sunday and float down the Mississippi to the southern tip of the park. The $10 entry fee will be donated to the Optimist Clubs to fund children's programs. First prize is $250.
Danny Essner, chairman of the River City Rodders car show, said the Rodders' duck was going to be the best.
"It's going to be cool. It will look like a real Rodder duck," he said.
