Drug-trafficking trial rescheduled for September

The drug-trafficking trial that ended in a mistrial in January, spurring prosecutors to file perjury charges against a juror, has been rescheduled for Sept. 7.

Charles Anthony Robinson was accused of trafficking crack cocaine, but his trial ended in a hung jury after juror Verdist Poindexter told other jurors he would vote "not guilty" no matter what, a probable-cause statement said. Prosecutors charged Poindexter with perjury for failing to disclose that he was allegedly biased against police.

Robinson was scheduled to be tried again today, but the case was pushed back at a pretrial conference Monday.

A preliminary hearing in Poindexter's perjury case is scheduled for 1 p.m. Wednesday.
