A traffic fatality at U.S. 51 and Bell Hill Road in Cobden, Ill., is being attributed to failure to obey a stop sign. A traffic fatality at U.S. 51 and Bell Hill Road in Cobden, Ill., is being attributed to failure to obey a stop sign. According to a news release by Trooper Michael Usher of the Illinois State Police, at about 3 p.m., the driver of a GMC truck was traveling west on Bell Hill Road. The truck failed to stop at a stop sign at U.S. 51 and collided with an International tractor-trailer traveling north on the highway. The identity of the deceased remains unknown because family notifications were being made at the time of the news release. There was one passenger in the GMC truck, and it was undetermined whether seat belts were worn at the time of the accident. An investigation is ongoing, according to the news release.
