DRIVER HONORS

JACKSON -- Melvin Steinnerd of Jackson will be recognized for 31 years of accident-free driving for Dannie Gilder, Inc., a Cape Girardeau-based trucking company.

Steinnerd is one of five drivers who will be honored at the firm's safety and awards banquet, to be held Feb. 23, at Robert's Restaurant at Benton.

"Million-Mile" awards will be presented to Steinnerd, who has been driving for the firm 31 years; Richard Barry of Bloomfield, 17 years; Max Putnam, Bernie, 17 years; Francis Wilson, Bernie, 18 years; and Glendon Chandler, Whitewater, 12 years.
