DEXTER, Mo. -- Police are searching for the driver of a vehicle who led them on a pursuit through downtown early Thursday. Major Larry Patterson of the Dexter Police Department said an officer initially pursued the vehicle on Catalpa Street at 1:15 a.m. because it was seen operating in "an erratic manner."...

DEXTER, Mo. -- Police are searching for the driver of a vehicle who led them on a pursuit through downtown early Thursday.

Major Larry Patterson of the Dexter Police Department said an officer initially pursued the vehicle on Catalpa Street at 1:15 a.m. because it was seen operating in "an erratic manner."

When officers tried to stop the vehicle, described as a blue Buick car, the driver evaded police during about a two-minute pursuit that ended when the driver stopped the car and ran from the scene.

A pursuit on foot ensued, but police were not able to capture the man.

Police later discovered the vehicle had been reported stolen Wednesday from an auto repair shop in Kennett, Missouri.

The vehicle was towed and impounded. It was processed by investigators from the Dexter police on Thursday.

The incident remains under investigation. Anyone with information regarding the suspect is asked to call Dexter Police at 573-624-5512.
