A summer class in driver education will be taught on the campus of Cape Girardeau Central High School starting June 13.

The first meeting will be held in the driver training building on Whitener Street just south of the gymnasium. The class starts at 8 a.m.

The classroom portion of the course will be conducted from June 13 through July 1. The driving portion will be arranged by instructors. Thirty hours of classroom instruction and six hours of behind-the-wheel experience are provided.

The course does not carry high school credit but does meet requirements for reduced car insurance rates.

All students must be 15 or older at the time the course starts. Driver education costs $130, which must be paid at enrollment.

Students wishing to enroll may sign up and make their payment at the high school athletic director's office any weekday. Checks should be made payable to Central High School.

Grades will be issued on a pass or fail basis.
