SIKESTON, Mo. -- A Sikeston man is charged with assault and manslaughter in connection with a fatal crash July 17.

Mark Lee Jobe of Sikeston has been charged in Scott County Court with first-degree assault and involuntary manslaughter, according to a news release from the Sikeston Department of Public Safety, and failure to obey a traffic device. Jobe's bond was set at $75,000 cash only, and he remained in the Scott County Jail late

Monday.

At 8:20 a.m. July 17, Sikeston police responded to a two-vehicle collision near the intersection of East Malone Avenue and Ingram Road. Both drivers were flown from the scene due to the severity of their injuries. Sikeston police concluded that a pickup truck traveling east on Malone struck a passenger car as it crossed the intersection on Ingram Road. The collision overturned the passenger car and caused the truck to overturn several times, ejecting the driver, according to the news release.

The driver of the passenger car, Kim Maclin of Sikeston, died from injuries sustained in the collision. Jobe, the alleged driver of the truck, was released from the hospital Friday evening and subsequently arrested.

Lt. Jim McMillen of the Sikeston police said in the news release that police are continuing to investigate, and are asking any witnesses to this incident to come forward. Anyone with information is encouraged to contact the Sikeston Department of Public Safety at 573-471-4711.
