DOWNTOWN MERCHANTS AUCTION DATE SET

The Downtown Merchants Association will holds its annual fund-raising auction early next month.

The auction will be held at the River City Yacht Club above Port Cape Girardeau restaurant May 4. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. with the auction starting at 8. A silent auction of several items will continue throughout the evening.

This marks the eighth year for the event, which helps fund downtown restoration and beautification projects and special events such as the Christmas parade.

Items are provided by merchants from throughout the city, and include a number of items which will be announced later.

The $10 per person admission includes a hors d'oeuvres buffet. A cash bar will be available.
