Douglas Albert Lindley, 65, of Glen Allen passed away Tuesday, Jan. 16, 2024, surrounded by his family, at his home. Doug was born Oct. 19, 1958, to Clarence and Bonnie Colburn Lindley in St. Louis.

He was a 1977 graduate of Woodland High School in Marble Hill. After graduating high school, Doug joined the U.S. Marine Corps in 1977 and remained in the USMC until his honorable discharge in 1982. While serving his country, Doug worked as a military police officer. He was awarded the M-16 Rifle Expert Badge in 1981 and a Good Conduct Medal in 1980. He was known as a marksman on the firing range.

Doug had his hand in a number of jobs, hobbies and groups over the years. From 1998 and for the next 32 years, Douglas worked as a dispatcher for the Bollinger County Sheriff's Office. He worked as a lineman for four years with the IBW Local 53. He was a member of the Optimist Club for six years. Doug coached AAU basketball for seven years. He was a Woodland High School board member for 14 years. He was known for taking sports photos at ballgames. His last two years of work were his favorite. He worked for Capital Sand in the office and had his service dog, Bugg, beside him every day.

On Nov. 26, 1977, Doug and Pamela Acord were united in marriage near Advance. Over the next 47 years, this couple raised three children, Dougie, Jamie and Nickie. It seemed as if they had more love to give than to just their three children, so Doug and Pamela became foster parents for a number of years. Doug loved to spend time with his family, working on the farm, fixing cars, fishing and whatever chores needed to be done. When Doug became a grandpa to his 16 grandchildren, he found his true happiness. He loved spending time with his grandchildren.

The name Doug and word "work" went hand in hand. He always had his hand in everything he could and was proficient in whatever he tried. Doug was loved by his family and cherished by his friends. More than anything, he was constant in his faith and a devoted Christian. God was always by his side.
