High winds forced the ferry to halt operations about 8:30 Thursday morning. It remain closed for the day after Capt. Ed Floyd reported sustained winds of about 30 miles per hour with gusts of about 40 mph on the Mississippi River near Hickman, Ky.

The Dorena-Hickman Ferry connects Highway 1354 at Hickman with Route A and Highway 77 near Dorena.
