HICKMAN, Ky. (AP) - The Dorena-Hickman Ferry has returned to service after being temporarily closed because of high winds.

Ferry service between Kentucky and Missouri restarted Friday morning. Officials closed the ferry on the Mississippi River Thursday because of high winds of up to 42 miles per hour.

The ferry resumed service at 7:00 a.m. CST.

The Dorena-Hickman Ferry connects KY 1354 at Hickman with Missouri Route A and Route 77 near Dorena.

Kentucky and Missouri are the only border states that are not directly connected by a road. The only direct route between the two states is the Dorena-Hickman Ferry.
