If you think shooting a three-pointer is tough, try it while riding a donkey.
That's what Mayor Al Spradling, Councilman J.J. Williamson and Circuit Judge John Grimm will do at Central Junior High School Friday during a game of donkey basketball.
The game begins at 7 p.m. in the old gym at Central High School. It is sponsored by the Central Junior High School Beta Club and PTA.
The Beta Club is a leadership and service organization at the school.
Its members will make up two of the four teams playing in the game. Other teams boast city leaders like the mayor, a city councilman and judge. The final team is sponsored by C.P. McGinty Jewelers and its roster includes members and alumni of the local Sigma Chi fraternity.
The game is planned as the grand finale for Spirit Week at Central Junior High School.
An awards assembly Friday afternoon will also be a highlight of the week's activities. An honors dance sponsored by the Beta Club will be held May 24.
Tickets for the basketball game cost $5 in advance and $7 at the door for adults and students. Children's tickets are $3 in advance and $5 at the door.
Advance tickets may be purchased at Garber's, Shivelbines, Howard's, DuShell's and the JCPenney catalog department. All proceeds will be donated to the school.
