POPLAR BLUFF -- A Doniphan man died Thursday afternoon, and three other people were injured following a two-car accident on U.S. 67 near Poplar Bluff.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol identified the victim as Earl Ward, 83, of Doniphan, a passenger in a vehicle driven by Walter Carter, 64, of Everton, Ark.

The patrol said Carter pulled into the path of a vehicle driven by Steven Moffitt, 29, of Poplar Bluff at 12:42 p.m. nine miles south of Poplar Bluff.

Both Walter and Dorothy Carter, 54, received moderate injuries and were taken to Doctor's Regional Medical Center in Poplar Bluff. Moffitt was also injured and taken to Lucy Lee Hospital.
