JACKSON -- Dog and trainers had to weather heavy rains and thunderstorms during a recent weekend, but completed the Southeast Missouri Quail Unlimited and Bird Dog Association, Inc. trials, held at Meier Hunting Club near Jackson.

Classes and winners were:

Open Puppy Stake (Bob Catlett Traveling Trophy): 1. Jack, a pointer male, handled by Dr. Dennis Montgomery; 2. Hi Tech, pointer male, managed by Charles Duren; 3. Sugar, setter female, shown by Dick Fortner.

Open Derby Stake (Elmer Brese Traveling Trophy): 1. Suzie, a white pointer, female owned by Dan Hampton and run by Gerry Glasco; 2. Babe, pointer female, by Tom Mofield; 3. Buck, owned by Hampton and run by Glasco.
