KENNETT, Mo. -- A veterinarian hopes to save a dog that was found apparently shot last week in Kennett.

The dog was found on the side of the road near Bayird Dodge Dealership and was taken to the Kennett Veterinary Clinic for treatment.

Kennett humane officer Tena Petix said that when he arrived at the clinic, the dog had several deep cuts and was bleeding heavily. Petix said in addition to the cuts, the dog also has very little use of his hind leg.

Dr. Everett Mobley said he found several pellets near the wound.
